Kihon Shibu 03/17/2008

We’re back to a Monday/Wednesday two hour schedule. We started off with the usual exercises. Afterwards we practiced some むて こうほうかいてん、たちながれと ぜんぽうかいてん (mute (no hands) kouhou kaiten, tachi nagare and zenpou kaiten). Solo かのかた (ka no kata) practice was next followed by partnered かた (kata) practice. Having a partner helped emphasize correct structure and alignment. We worked on that quite a bit before moving onto うらぎゃく (ura gyaku) again. We practiced using the lock to throw the opponent forward and also to drop them backward depending on how you took your かまえ (kamae). We worked more on controlling the opponent once they were on the ground. Specifically, we worked on rolling them from their back to their stomach using the ぎゃく (gyaku) only. We also worked on doing the ぎゃく (gyaku) from a punch. After practicing うらぎゃく (ura gyaku) for a while we lightly touched the topic of switching from うらぎゃく (ura gyaku) to おもてぎゃく (omote gyaku) and back. Next time we’ll work on this some more.

がんばって!
